Good Year at
Phillips Theological Seminary
is Good News for Churches

William Tabbernee, president of Phillips Theological Seminary in
Tulsa, is describing the 2003-2004 academic year as being both
historic and exhilarating.  He said, "A year ago we were rushing
to complete the renovation of our new campus in time for the
beginning of classes in August 2003.  During the nine months
that followed we celebrated numerous high points, including
the joy of having our seminary community together on the
same campus for the first time since 1986."

Tabbernee said there has been an enthusiastic response from
students, who are finding all of the seminary's services
conveniently located now.  Previously, PTS was located in Enid,
Oklahoma, with Phillips University.  In 1986, the seminary
began offering classes in Tulsa as well as Enid.  The school's
move to Tulsa was completed in 1999.

The new PTS campus contains two main buildings with 60,000
square feet of space on 7.5 acres near Tulsa International
Airport.  The campus was formerly the headquarters for the
QuikTrip Corporation, which built new headquarters and
donated their previous facilities to the seminary.

"Students are visibly pleased to find that our spacious library,
computer-aided classrooms, offices, attractive chapel, and
comfortable study areas are all under one roof," Tabbernee
said.  He believes the new campus has also spurred new
growth.  PTS now has 250 students, the largest enrollment
in its 97 year history.

Tabbernee also points to the growing financial stability of PTS.
"We have just concluded our eighth year in a row with a
balanced budget.  While that is very encouraging, we are still
working hard to improve financial support for the seminary.
There is more we could and should do as we continue to
prepare future ministers for the church."

A few courses are being taught this summer. The fall semester
will begin August 23. More information is available by writing
